New 3D project in Arnold (Maya)!
Lately I’ve been exploring different styles. Zuko was great as a full character, Fern (my Patreon project) has more of a watercolor vibe, but this time, I wanted to push into something more graphical, like a sketch.
As I mentioned, I needed to learn how to paint and mix nodes in Maya, the best of both worlds! (2D and 3D)
The idea was simple: pick the first cool concept I saw on Pinterest (literally the first) and bring it to life in 3D without overthinking it.
The original concept by RUN (still trying to find their socials, let me know if you spot it!).
The base started from a Dynamesh sphere in ZBrush, hand-painted in Substance Painter, and rendered with Arnold using dynamic lights and a played with some nodes and help of the toon shader.
If you’re curious about the workflow, there’s a free preview with the first lessons in my ArtStation Marketplace profile.
